Shine Lawyers is now seeking a driven and experienced Paralegal/Senior Paralegal in our Melbourne office on a full-time, permanent basis to work across our Public Liability team. This is a fantastic opportunity for ideally, a career paralegal with experience in claims under the Wrongs Act to work closely with a senior legal professional and learn from the very best.
The responsibilities
- Assist solicitors with the day-to-day operations of files/client management
- Be the first point of contact for clients and answer clients’ enquiries
- Work across a mixed file load in workers' compensation, public liability, motor vehicle accident matters
- Prepare matters for conference and hearing including preparation of court documents, legal documents and general correspondence
- Draft briefs, documents such as claim forms and schedule of damages and liaise with Counsel
- Correspond, brief and liaise with medical practitioners and other experts
- Coordinate medico-legal appointments, compulsory conferences and mediations
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and external to the organisation
- Manage complex databases of information
- Devise systems to support information retention and accessibility
- Administration tasks as required
The skills
- Demonstrated experience as a legal secretary/paralegal across litigious areas of law
- Experience with claims under the Wrongs Act will make your application competitive
- Significant demonstrated experience of pre-court and court processes
- Client service oriented, strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team and achieving targets
- Proactive, self-starter and displays initiative
- Comfortable to work under pressure when needed
- Strong MS Office skills
