The Role
We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic legal administration professional to join us in our Brisbane CBD head office as the Team Assistant – Consumer Disputes, on a permanent full time basis. This role provides support of the highest standard to our busy, dedicated Disability & Superannuation Law team, working closely with our National Special Counsel. 

This is an ideal role for a highly experienced legal administration professional, or a paralegal who is wishing to move away from the client-facing side of law, whilst still contributing to our clients’ positive outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Operational support to the Consumer Dispute team, as directed by the National Special Counsel
  • Management of file allocations and distribution of new work across the team
  • Act as first point of contact for project and operational enquiries to the National Special Counsel
  • Support coordination of the diary of the National Special Counsel to ensure that key business targets are met, priorities are continually highlighted, and key areas of concern are in the forefront of the minds of management and staff;
  • Team diary management and management of diaries for case management
  • Partner with Team Leaders to provide reporting, analysis and provision of recommendations as requested by the National Special Counsel
  • Perform compilation of relevant reports and presentations, editing as requested by the National Special Counsel, and distribution;
  • Preparing, formatting and checking documents, letters and reports for the National Special Counsel
  • General ad hoc administration duties including distribution of incoming and outgoing mail
  • Travel management for the National Special Counsel
  • Manage and priorities phone calls for the National Special Counsel including those from the media
  • Coordination of meetings for the team, ensuring actions, outcomes and reports required are collated and distributed
  • Support coordination invoice payment, travel bookings and reconciliations for the National Special Counsel

Required skills

  • Administration/Personal Assistant experience, ideally in the legal/superannuation/insurance fields
  • An understanding of personal injury law is highly desirable
  • Highly organised and efficient with proactive time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly collaborative and consultative approach to and influencing and building strong stakeholder relationships
  • Advanced software experience with various computer packages including MS Excel
  • Experience preparing reports and presentations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of managing competing deadlines and requirements from various stakeholders
  • Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines and prioritise work
  • Excellent attention to detail
